Model ST-5000 Max,Power 5000 watts $359.95
Having a higher wattage transformer than you need will not damage the equipment but if you cut too close a wattage transformer to the wattage your equipment draws you may blow fuses in the transformer especially on start up. I also find that appliances like grinders and blenders draw a surge of current on start up so get a heavier transformer to run them.
To find the axp. Watts transformer to buy look at your product and see if it lists the Amps it draws. Then multiply the Amps times the voltage it requires to get the Apx. wattage.
Example: 220 volt 1.6A would be about 352 watts so you need to get an ST500 or larger to be able to run this appliance on 110 V
ADAPTER PLUGS ( do not change voltage but allow you to plug the ST transformers into Foreign outlets )
#FRANZUS grounded adapter plug page FRANZUS electrical conversion products,
The 48-500 $9.95 ea voltage converter is designed for use with 110 volt appliances rated 50 watts or less. The following are examples of low wattage appliances recommended for use with the 48-500.
* Battery chargers * Calculators * Portable Cassette/CD Players * Radios * Shavers/Timers
NOTE: ALWAYS CONSULT THE APPLIANCE I IDENTIFICATION LABEL FOR WATTAGE RATING BEFORE USING A VOLTAGE CONVERTER.
48-516 use with 110 volt heating appliances rated up to 1600 watts $11.69 plus shipping
Coffee Makers * Food/Bottle Warmers * HairDryers * Hair Roller Sets * Hot Plates* Steamers * Toasters*
NOT RECOMMEND TO USE WITH: Auto start/shutoff coffee makers and irons or electronically controlled blankets or toasters. All of these items contain electronic components and MUST HAVE a transformer type voltage converter.
These maximum power ratings must not be exceeded by the appliance(s) connected to the transformer.
Electrical appliances built for use in the United States and Canada are designed to operate on 110 volts AC (alternating current). However, most of the world operates on 220 volts AC. Therefore, to use your favorite appliance while traveling overseas you must convert 220 volts to 110 volts AC. Failure to do this could destroy or severely damage your appliance. The product made for this purpose Is called a voltage converter. Philmore offers two types to cover a wide range of electrical appliances.
Transformer type voltage converters reproduce a true sine wave output that is identical to normal household electricity. They can be used with any small electrical appliance. (Model 48-500 + ST100 -through ST5000). Solid state voltage converters do not produce a sine wave output and can only be used with heating appliances. (48-516)$11.69
* Always check the type of current (AC or DC) and voltage (110 or 220V) before using your converter.
* 48-500 and 48-516 Converters will not work in a 110V outlet.
* Always check the appliance you plan to use with the converter for: wattage rating, type (motor, electronics, heating element, etc.), operating properly before you leave.
* American appliances operate at 60 cycles, while most foreign electricity operates at 50 cycles. This may cause your appliance to operate slightly slower than normal but WILL NOT harm it in any way.
TO CONVERT 110 VOLTS TO 220 VOLTS:
1.Make sure the appliance to be plugged in uses fewer watts than the transformer's rating.
2.Insert the voltage tap plug(located on the rear of the transformer)into the pair of holes corresponding to the local voltage standard(200,220,0r240 volts).Check carefully to be sure no error has been made.
3.Attach the round-pin adapter to the transformer's power cord and connect into the source of 200,220,0r240 volts.
4.110volts will be available at the front-panel outlet marked 110' volts when the power switch is turned on To prevent damage and possible fire hazards, the `fuse should be replaced with a slow-blow fuse(MDL)of the same ampere rating as the original if the fuse continues to blow, the transformer and/or the appliance connected to it may need repair.
