CDSR Series

The CDSR-4400 is a professional quality, high performance, commercial digital satellite receiver. This unit is ideal for applications requiring an economically priced, commercial grade digital IRD. The CDSR-4400 is C and Ku band compatible, accepting signals in the 950 to 1550 MHz frequency range. Complete control of the CDSR-4400 is accomplished using extensive front-panel accessible menus.

The microprocessors and memory integrated into each CDSR-4400 decode and decompress the MPEG II video, audio, data and other information present in the signal, allowing significantly less information to be transmitted which reduces bandwidth requirements. This receiver automatically handles fixed, limited statistical, and full statistical multiplexing to provide the best video performance. Virtual channel mapping, using a programmer transmitted satellite transponder lookup table, is employed to select the desired video, audio and miscellaneous data streams out of the overall transmis-sion. The CDSR-4400 outputs one pair of stereo audio signals at a time, which may also be configured as two mono channels. Dolby® AC-3 (chosen by the North American Grand Alliance for High Definition Television) audio compression is employed and the receiver automatically adjusts the compression rate used for the audio. Audio channels may be tagged with a language and the receiver will select the proper audio material based on the selected language. The CDSR-4400 delivers the best possible video and audio quality by using forward error corrections (FEC) techniques that make allowances for poor signal quality including; determining which information is corrupted and applying automatic correction. FEC allows the CDSR-4400 to provide a clear digital signal until the quality degrades to a level where FEC can no longer restore the information.

The CDSR-4400 is housed in a double height, 3.50" high, rack mountable, steel chassis. Front panel design includes a momentarily backlit liquid crystal display (LCD). Complete control of the CDSR-4400 is accomplish via an extensive software menu.
