AM-60-860 MORE INFORMATION Agile Audio/Video Modulator +60 dBmV, 54-860 MHz with EAS feature OPTIONS: 02, 04, 05, 07, 10 and H (02 & 09)

The AM Series includes professional quality, agile audio/video modulators equipped with the Emergency Alert System (EAS) feature, which can also be used as an alternate IF input. These units provide audio and video modulated RF carrier on any channel in the 54 to 550/750 MHz frequency range. The AM Series is ideal for placing audio and video onto any unused channel (broadcast and CATV, including HRC and IRC assignments). Any standard audio/video source can be used, such as satellite receivers, television cameras, video tape recorders, or television demodulators. Agile channel selection permits on-the-fly channel changes and reduces the need for large inventories of channelized products. These modulators have a wide range of standard and optional features that make them very suitable for advanced CATV systems.

Four models are available, including: AM-40-550, +40 dBmV, 54-550 MHz; AM-40-750, +40 dBmV, 54-750 MHz; AM-60-550, +60 dBmV, 54-550 MHz ; and AM-60-750, +60 dBmV, 54-750 MHz. All models feature rock solid, synthesized frequency control, with a tuning increment of 250 kHz. Frequency selection is accomplished via front panel DIP switches. A channel listing chart is conveniently attached to the inside of the DIP switch cover. A custom SAW filter is employed to provide true vestigial sideband selectivity with built-in FCC group delay pre-distortion. These modulators have an external IF loop, which allows interfacing with video all-call and signal scrambling systems.

The EAS Alternate IF feature allows the choice between manual and automatic selection of EAS/ALT IF input signal. This is done through a 3 position terminal strip on the rear of the unit. In the manual mode the EAS/ALT IF feature is activated by a contact closure switch, which completes a ground connection. In the automatic mode two positions on the terminal strip are jumpered together enabling an automatic detection circuit in the unit. When an EAS/ALT IF signal is routed to the EAS/ALT IF port the unit automatically switches to that alternate signal.

The AM Series meets FCC Docket 21006 aeronautical frequency offset requirements (±5 kHz video carrier accuracy). These modulators provide extremely clean output signals with distortion products (-60 dB or better). An exceptionally lowbroad band noise floor (-76 dBc or better) makes the AM Series ideal for large, multiple channel headends without the need for additional filtering. The AM Series accepts standard polarity (sync negative) video in the range of 0.7 to 2.5 V p-p. Field-defeatable audio pre-emphasis enables transmission of BTSC standard composite stereo signals.

OPTION 01 - 4.5 MHz Audio Input This option provides an input that accepts an audio modulated 4.5 MHz carrier. It is used with stereo generators or microwave receivers to preserve the encoded stereo signal. The required input level for this carrier is +35 to +45 dBmV. A rear panel switch allows selection of either standard baseband audio or 4.5 MHz audio input.

OPTION 02 - Video Input, BNC Connector This options provides a BNC type, female connector for the video input.

OPTION 04 - Sub-band Output This option provides frequency coverage from 7 to 550/750 MHz.

OPTION 05 - Stereo Audio This option integrates a professional quality BTSC stereo encoder to provide stero audio.

OPTION 07 - Video AGC This option maintains the video modulation level for ±4 dB input level change. A rear panel switch allows selection of either manual gain control (MGC) or automatic gain control (AGC).

OPTION 09 - Balanced Audio Input, 600 . This option provides a barrier strip, 600 . balanced audio input. The required input level is -10 to +10 dBm.

OPTION 10 - Composite Video & 4.5 MHz Audio Input This option provides an input that accepts a composite of the full baseband (audio and video) output from a microwave receiver.

OPTION 16 - Z-TAC Interface This option allows the modulator to accept the output of a Z-TAC encoder as a video input.
